Finding Inspiration

Ideas for my stories come from a variety of places. Dreams are common, though the ensuing story rarely follows it exactly. For example, in the one that Saucy Secretary came from ended with her taking a facial. That was too similar to another of my other tales, Summer Rain, that I wrote around the same time, so I changed it.

Not all of my Dreaming of You series are based on dreams though. In fact Sunset Beach was something me and my partner did, although it was during the day and in the sand dunes. That was something we tried after a conversation she had with her workmates about risky places to have sex.

Conversations, whether ones I have had or overheard, particularly late at night after a few drinks, have sparked several ideas. One night I heard a guy telling his mates that he had been at a birthday party when a girl fell asleep with her head in his lap. Eventually most people left, except a few that were asleep on other chairs. Unfortunately for him she slept soundly through the night, her head resting on her hands upon his erection, unlike the main character in After the Party.

Occasionally it might be a real life occurrence that evolves into a story. When I was younger and worked in a few bars, there was one quiet night where a regular and his new girlfriend came in with some other friends. All of them were very drunk and loud. That particular place had a small room for the darts players, with a hatch into it the end of the bar. After several minutes there came loud cheering and glancing in I saw her knelt over his lap grinding against him. Unlike the second part of Dirty Dancing, that was all they did before they left shortly afterwards.

Sometimes it is other media that will inspire something. The parody Whore of the Worlds was to much of a temptation to ignore, particularly when the first couple of lines came to mind almost immediately. Likewise with The Tale of the Curious Couple. The first chorus practically wrote itself, and I was compelled to complete it once I thought of the title, even though it was harder to finish than my own rhymes.

By far the most obvious inspiration, though the original idea was different, can be found in Championship Performance. The original tale was going to explain the reason the diver made a mistake on one of his dives - he spots the girl who burst into the changing rooms, and only kissed him, in the audience miming a blowjob too him - though while setting up the initial scene I decided to have the other divers tease him, two girls suck and fuck him in there, and forget about the dives afterwards. Now that the diver it is based on has posted a 'coming out' video, the teasing sounds even more realistic. Unfortunately for his female fans I think he was told to say he still fancies girls so as not too lose them, which is a shame as he is a great guy and a credit to his sport.

So that is just a glimpse at some of the ways I get my ideas, and without mentioning the obvious fantasies you see in other erotica or porn. What inspired your favourite fantasy?

  1. As mentioned on your other post, I get a lot from my dreams for my writing. However, for longer projects I sit down and make notes, expand a singular scene into a full story to add context. I do love context to my sex scenes.
